GOING WITH THE FLOW

A good number of writers have committed to our Write at Home for 28 Days series.  Writing everyday can be a challenge.
Here are a few suggestions I have made to writers as they take this challenge.

HERE ARE SOME OF MY COMMENTS  Anne

TO ONE WRITER WHO WANTED BETTER FLOW
Those time when the writing just comes is great and a
mystery.  Since the writing is not as much this time, here is a suggestion: What
if you switched your writing time from 1 hour to 30 minutes.  Then when you
write more than the 30 minutes required it seems like a bonus, a gift.  Also how
about thinking of some rewards for your writing.  Gold stars, a piece of
chocolate, a protein drink, 10 minutes playing with the dog, a bubble bath, or
even a few minutes surfing the internet.

Rewards and surprises can help make the writing fun and
can help us get back into the rhythm.  Writing is a muscle and needs pampering.

Happy time with the writing.

ANOTHER WRITER ALSO CONCERNED ABOUT THE FLOW

It takes a little while to get into the flow.  You are warming up a muscle. The
key is to write what comes out of your hand.  It may not be the prompt that I
suggest or any of the subjects. The writing will find its own subject and form.

Remember, “leave the critic at the door.”  There is no
judgement of good, bad, or poor.  The bassoonist doesn’t always play the most
beautiful notes everytime, but practices and plays.  We are rehearsing scales.
