Coffee, Anyone?

The Atlantic
recently reported on a study about the effects of noise on creativity.  Turns out, a crowded coffee shop might just
be the best place to get your creative juices flowing.  If Goldilocks had been a writer, she would
find the ambient noise in a crowded coffee shop to be “just right.” Too quiet,
and it stifles your creativity.  Too
loud, and you can’t hear yourself think.
So, next time you find yourself with writer’s block, treat yourself to a
latte – it might just do the trick.  If
you want to read more about it, the full study,
“Is Noise Always Bad?: Exploring the Effects of Ambient Noise on Creative
Cognition,” is published in the Journal of Consumer Research. Don’t forget to tip the barista!
